ESET Senior Security Researcher Stephen Cobb (above, center), one of the world’s leading voices in cybersecurity, was named a Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) Tech Champion. The award was presented on February 5 in Washington, D.C. According to CompTIA, the award recognizes “leaders focused on driving innovation, job growth and advancements for the information technology industry.”
CompTIA is the leading voice and advocate for the $1.5 trillion U.S. information technology ecosystem and the more than 35 million industry and tech professionals who design, implement, manage, and safeguard the technology that powers the world's economy.
In its introduction, CompTIA highlighted Stephen’s lifelong commitment to IT security: “For more than 30 years, Stephen has been a leading international voice on data privacy and information security.”
Having worked for ESET for several years now, Cobb is one of the first people to earn the Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) qualification. He is also the author of a dozen textbooks and an evangelist of cybersecurity best practices for consumers and businesses around the world.
“This award for Stephen is well deserved and a long time in coming. The industry has always recognized his wisdom and has never taken his word or work for granted. We are proud to have such a veteran in our ranks here at ESET,” said ESET Chief Research Officer Roman Kovac.
The other two award recipients are U.S. Congressman David Schweikert (R-AZ) and Senator Gary Peters (D-MI).
Almost 600 of ESET’s 1,600 employees – including Cobb – work in research and development, empowering ESET to stay one step ahead of cybercriminals and the latest threats.
