Public-private partnership for threat intelligence sharing to strengthen global cyber resiliency

ESET, a global leader in digital security, is pleased to announce that it has joined the Joint Cyber Defense Collaborative (JCDC). Established by the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) in 2021, JCDC unifies cyber defenders from organizations worldwide to enable synchronized, holistic cybersecurity planning, cyber defense, and response by gathering, analyzing, and sharing actionable cyber risk information.

“Collaboration in cybersecurity is critical, and we are pleased to join some of the top technology companies in the world alongside the public sector in defending cyberspace as part of JCDC,” said Brent McCarty, President of ESET North America. “ESET has long been known for its investment and leadership in threat research, which spans an extensive network of researchers around the globe who protect users, businesses, critical infrastructure and governments from new and persistent threats. In North America, we are also committed to community engagement, cybersecurity awareness and collaboration at a local and national level.”

For more than 30 years, ESET has helped organizations and governments stay protected from the world’s most advanced cybersecurity threats. The company has researchers in 13 R&D centers around the world who support real time monitoring, threat analysis and reporting into previously unseen threats and sophisticated APT group activity. This world class research is published on WeLiveSecurity, one of the top cybersecurity blogs in the world, and in regular threat reports and APT reports.

A cybersecurity leader in Europe with its global headquarters in Slovakia, ESET has collaborated closely with cyber defenders in Ukraine and across the region to thwart cyberattacks during the conflict in Ukraine, including attacks to the Ukrainian power grid. You can read more about this collaboration and ESET’s discoveries at ESET’s Ukraine Crisis – Digital Security Resource Center.

“Critical infrastructure has traditionally been underfunded, so this public private partnership within JCDC presents a unique opportunity to strengthen the security and resilience of these critical services,” said Tony Anscombe, Chief Security Evangelist of ESET. “Whether looking at power grid attacks in Ukraine or the recent targeting of nuclear research laboratories in the United States, the impacts of ongoing attacks against critical infrastructure could be unimaginable. Examples such as these highlight the importance of public private partnership and the sharing of research in order to thwart devastating impacts on our society. ESET looks forward to sharing our expertise and analysis to this strategic global organization.”

About JCDC
Pursuant to new authority from Congress, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) established JCDC in August 2021 to transform traditional public-private partnerships into real-time private-public operational collaboration and shift the paradigm from reacting to threats and vulnerabilities to proactively planning and taking steps to mitigate them. JCDC combines the visibility, insight, and innovation of the private sector with the capabilities and authorities of the federal cyber ecosystem to collectively drive down cyber risk to the nation at scale.
