ESET Parental Control for Android is now available! Offering keep your children safe online while they explore, learn and play.
The eagle eyed among you might recall, or even have signed up for, the beta we ran for Parental Control during August.
If you aren’t familiar then we’ll quickly guide you through the ins and outs.
Keep your children safe online
After surveying 2000 parents we found that 9/10 didn’t believe that their children were mature enough to freely explore all mobile apps and websites.
As the accompanying infographic shows, 80% were worried about their children visiting inappropriate web pages, whilst 61% were concerned about their children spending too much time on their device.
Other concerns included inappropriate mobile apps and exposure to cyber bullying and whether or not their children would reveal personal information to strangers.
Combine these worries with the widespread availability of smartphones, a child’s “need” to have a smartphone and a parent’s genuine need to stay in contact with their children and we’ve created the perfect app.
Parental Control is now available for Android phones running Android Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0) or higher and provides parents with the tools they need to keep track of their children while they’re out and about.
However, Parental Control doesn’t just cater to parents. It also protects children from potentially harmful online material and apps with our Application Guard and Web Guard.
It also promotes a healthy phone vs. life balance, enabling parents to set time limits and the time of day that their children are allowed to play games.
Game time for example could be used as a reward for completing homework or chores as more time can be added on the fly as you, the parent, see fit.
Last but certainly not least parents can send messages via the app which must be acknowledged by the child before they can continue using their device. “I didn’t see your text,” can no longer be an excuse.
