SINGAPORE, 8 March 2017 – Nick FitzGerald, Senior Research Fellow at ESET®, will be giving a keynote speech on emerging and converging threats on the first day of the Security Days Spring 2017 in Tokyo, one of the biggest IT security conferences in Asia Pacific.
The three-day conference will also address multiple topics and issues pertinent to the IT security industry ranging from cloud security and security infrastructure to cybersecurity measures. Security Days Spring 2017 will be held at the JP Tower Hall & Conference in Tokyo from March 8th to 10th with ESET as its Platinum Sponsor.
“I’m thrilled to be given the opportunity to connect with key industry leaders across Asia Pacific at Security Days Spring 2017 in Tokyo,” said Nick. “I look forward to sharing ESET’s trends for the year and learning about the newest and best-in-breed for the industry at this exciting gathering of cybersecurity professionals.”
Nick will address the emergence of two kinds of cyber threats, ransomware and the weaponisation of the Internet of Things (IoT). 2016 saw the increasing onslaught of ransomware and the long-predicted emergence of the weaponisation of the Internet of Things (IoT), with hundreds of thousands of IoT devices being recruited into a botnet which was in turn used to launch some of the largest DDoS attacks ever seen. In his presentation, Nick aims to consider some of the possibilities where the financial success and apparent ease of subverting large chunks of the IoT may drive the convergence of these two kinds of threats.
