The test conducted by independent British magazine Virus Bulletin (VB) assessed the performance of products by 37 anti-virus vendors. The tested products were based on Microsoft Windows Vista Business Edition SP2 X32 platform and the sample batch of viruses used in testing contained, among others, a number of variants of the Win32/Conficker worm, Win32/Koobface infiltrations targeting social networks, as well as samples belonging to the Win32/Virut family.
ESET NOD32 Antivirus 4 has fared exceptionally well in the rigorous testing. NOD32 engine is used as the foundation for other products, such as ESET Smart Security and server security solutions. The award was the result of a combination of advanced technology for the detection of polymorphic viruses, and extremely low incidents of false positives. With this latest VB100 award, ESET NOD32 Antivirus is the only antivirus product worldwide that has never missed a single in-the-wild occurring threat used in the test. ESET is a regular participant of VB testing since 1998 and holds the world record of VB100 Awards, obtaining the 57th Award in August 2009.With its 59th appearance in the testing, ESET’s product has missed this prestigious award only twice in its history. Since the testing’s inception it achieved a cumulative success rate of 96,61%.
In order to receive a VB award, the tested product has to detect all viruses in the on-demand and on-access scanning category.
