ESET launches the version 4.2 of its ESET Smart Security and ESET NOD32 Antivirus for public beta testing. All main modules of ESET Smart Security – Antivirus, Antispyware, Personal Firewall and Antispam – are improved to ensure better stability and performance of the software.
Among other improvements ESET Smart Security 4.2 offers full support for Windows Automated Installation kit 2.0 for Windows 7 enabling users to create a Rescue CD. Moreover, Mozilla Thunderbird 3 e-mail clients are also supported, extending advanced protection to users on the go.
Additionally, ESET Smart Security 4.2 features an improved and integrated Antispam capability. One of the most important new features is Trusted Zone Authentication intended to enhance especially the security of portable computers. The authentication is carried out by identifying the authentication server within the network or via changing the LAN settings. In this new version, the user can create rules and switch quickly among them to set the firewall behavior as required. Thanks to Firewall Profiles, another new feature added, each firewall profile can have special settings assigned. These serve to definie different profile actions in a specific situation, such as when to remain active, inactive or revert to default mode.
ESET also made improvements to the Encrypted Communication Scanner and added a support for the older version of Windows NT 4.0 SP6 (only for ESET NOD Antivirus 4).
Public beta testing will go onuntil the official release of Version 4.2 scheduled for the first quarter of 2010.
