Experts from ESET, a global leader in cybersecurity, have been exploring the use of machinelearning for more than 20 years, but what actually is the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) or Machine Learningin fight against cybercrime? ESET will be exploring this topic, sharing new research and key findings on AI and mobile security at Mobile World Congress (MWC) – taking place February 25 – 28, 2019 in Barcelona.
Exhibiting in Hall 7, stand 7H41, ESET will be discussing how AI algorithms will increasingly help fight fraud, evaluate and optimize processes, improve testing procedures and help in developing new solutions to existing problems. Alongside this ESET will be exploring how, like most disruptive innovations, AI will also bring its own drawbacks.
“AI is certainly the hot topic at the moment in the IT industry,” said Tony Anscombe, ESET’s Global Security Evangelist. “We have seen plenty of stories about how cybercriminals will potentially use the technology in the near future to advance their targeted attacks on organizations and this is something we are continually looking into. With an understanding of how those with malicious intent operate, we can better help organizations deploy the best defenses to fight back effectively, using strong and sophisticated algorithms.”

· Banking Trojans on Android: 2018 was yet another year of Android malware. This year, however, instead of the declining ransomware threats or coin-miners, we will take a deeper look at banking trojans present on the Android mobile platform. In time of MWC we will as well launch new blogging project that will watch and investigate malicious apps and threats on Android or Google Play.
· Investigating malicious apps: Just in time for MWC, ESET will be launching a new blogging project that will report on our monitoring and investigation of malicious apps and threats to both Android and Google Play. Visit ESET’s stand at MWC to speak to ESET researcher, Lukas Stefanko, on the topic and more.
