As 2017 begins, privacy and security will continue to be top of mind for consumers and businesses alike.
That is why San Diego-based non-profit Securing Our eCity (SOeC) is bringing together a number of experts in the security and privacy space from ESET, Morrison & Foerster LLP, and Privacy Rights Clearinghouse, for a Data Privacy Day event.
When: January 27, 2017 from 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.
Where: Morrison & Foerster LLP located at 12531 High Bluff Drive, Suite 100.
Who: Andrew Serwin, Partner of Morrison & Foerster LLP; Beth Givens, Executive Director of Privacy Rights Clearinghouse; Chad Nelley, EVP of ESET North America. The event will be moderated by Brad Lunn, Board Member of Securing Our eCity Foundation.
What: Breakfast and panel discussion;$20 per person. (Breakfast is included with registration along with fantastic networking opportunities.)
Data security policies are crucial to companies that value the protection of their data and their client’s privacy. By safeguarding this information, companies can preserve their client’s trust, and protect one of their most integral assets. Attendees will hear from cyber industry experts about best policy practices on how to better protect data. Proceeds from the event will benefit two local non-profit organizations, SOeC and Privacy Rights Clearinghouse.

About Data Privacy Day (from the National Cyber Security Alliance website): Data Privacy Day began in the United States and Canada in January 2008 as an extension of the Data Protection Day celebration in Europe. Data Protection Day commemorates the Jan. 28, 1981, signing of Convention 108, the first legally binding international treaty dealing with privacy and data protection. Data Privacy Day is now a celebration for everyone, observed annually on January 28.
