ESET Recognized with Community Impact Award at the 2024 CRN Women of the Year Awards

SAN DIEGO, Calif., December 19, 2024ESET, a global leader in cybersecurity, announced that it was recognized with the Community Impact Award at the 2024 Women of the Year Gala – run by CRN®, a brand of The Channel Company. This award celebrates ESET’s commitment to tech channel leadership that advances positive change, awareness and success across the industry.

In its second year, the Annual CRN Women of the Year Awards shine a spotlight on women and companies who have made significant contributions to the channel. Specifically, the Community Impact Award honors the philanthropic actions a company has taken to improve the world through global and local contributions. This includes ESET’s work tracking advanced persistent threat (APT) actors and protecting Ukraine from cyberattacks, delivering free and educational resources for the channel, creating programs to close the gender gap in STEM; and supporting community organizations that reach SMBs and at risk communities with cybersecurity tools and education.

“ESET has an established history of global and local engagement, and we are honored to accept the CRN Community Impact Award, which showcases our ongoing commitment to drive cybersecurity awareness and best practices with the channel, businesses of all sizes and digital users around the world,” said Samantha Serpa, Senior Director of Marketing at ESET North America who attended the Gala in New York City and accepted the award. “Cybersecurity is a team sport, and we depend on strong government, channel and community partner relationships around the world to maximize the impact of our awareness programs. This award also underscores the importance of threat intelligence, and the work being done by threat hunters around the world, who play an instrumental role preventing cyber attacks, rapidly detecting zero days and empowering users with awareness on the threat landscape.”

Cybersecurity awareness is a cornerstone of ESET’s company offerings and overarching values, supported by hundreds of threat hunters globally. Channel partners benefit from real-time monitoring, threat intelligence, easy-to-digest resources along with world-class research published on WeLiveSecurity. These resources enable channel partners to quickly develop expertise and give their customers a prevention-first advantage in combating cybercrime.

"It is an honor to recognize the remarkable accomplishments and dedication of each winner of the 2024 CRN Women of the Year Awards," said Jennifer Follett, Vice President, U.S. Content, and Executive Editor, CRN, at The Channel Company. "The commitment and passion of these outstanding organizations is transforming the IT channel and inspiring continued change. We applaud the strategies they’ve built to advance equity, innovation, and success for the tech industry, and we look forward to seeing how they continue to drive transformation for their company and the IT channel ecosystem."

As a leader in the San Diego cybersecurity community, ESET has deep roots in driving resilience in the region. The company has an established history of local engagement and cybersecurity awareness as a proud partner of a number of local foundations – from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego and Promises2Kids to San Diego Police Foundation’s Women in Blue program – where ESET has supported programs to close cybersecurity education gaps and ensure San Diegans are able to defend against bad actors. ESET is also an active member of San Diego’s Cyber Center of Excellence (CCOE) where we work to educate local SMBs and are involved in programs to grow the regional cyber economy. Finally, ESET’s annual Women in Cybersecurity Scholarship was developed to reduce the cybersecurity skills gap nationally, and increase diversity in the field.

Globally, ESET has played a critical role in protecting its neighbor Ukraine by working closely with Ukrainian IT teams since the Industroyer, Black Energy attacks in 2015. During the war, ESET has been instrumental in detecting and blocking wiper malware attacks and defending the energy grid (Industroyer 2). In addition to these efforts, ESET has provided humanitarian relief and support for families crossing the Slovakia border and has supported channel partners in the region.

The Women of the Year Gala took place December 10, 2024 at the iconic Gotham Hall in the heart of Manhattan. More information on the awards and the winners are detailed here.
