threat noun \thret\: intention to inflict pain, injury, damage or other hostile action on someone in retribution for something done or not done.
intelligence noun \ in·tel·li·gence\: the ability to acquire and apply knowledge and skills.
What I’m about to tell you is not a new or novel phenomenon: your enterprise is under constant attack. The world has watched as major corporations have been victimized by cybercriminals, losing historically high amounts of data…not to mention credibility and trust. Information security leaders know the risks, yet according to a 2016 survey from Ponemon only a small percentage of them feel as though they are equipped to handle them. Why?
Attack surfaces are growing. Data is proliferating. The Internet of Things (IoT) is expanding. All of these things are happening at top speed as cybercrime remains a growth industry.
ESET’s commitment for close to 30 years has been to building tools and technology to help reduce the tremendous demands faced by CISOs and allow them to sleep better at night. We don’t claim to be the only answer. But we are a critical piece of the security puzzle—and I’m excited to announce a new, critical piece that will go a long way in solving that puzzle. Welcome to ESET Threat Intelligence.
ESET Threat Intelligence is our first-ever enterprise service that predicts and proactively notifies customers of real-time threats targeting their business. By providing deep insights into the who, why and what behind potential attacks, this service enables your internal team to better understand and manage business risk—and improve the effectiveness of your security defenses.
Threat intelligence (TI) is an important component in the life cycle of a threat, and to better understand its purpose, you need to first look at ESET’s Adaptive Security Architecture. Gartner refers to TI in reference to the four main components of a security framework: predict, prevent, detect and respond. In years past, ESET has been heavily involved in both the prevention and detection stages. Now, in order to offer more to our enterprise customers, we’ve harnessed the power of our 100 million sensors around the world to support the prediction part of the equation.
Who would want this? What does a threat intelligence service actually do?
ESET Threat Intelligence is primarily meant for companies with a devoted and active security team. These teams investigate incidents to find out the cause; train users to prevent such an incident from happening again; and remediate any flaws discovered during this analysis. Security teams also utilize SIEM tools that aggregate logs and alerts from multiple systems into a single console, making it easier to keep track of all of the different systems.
If you are responsible for protecting an enterprise business, our new ESET Threat Intelligence service will be a tremendous help, and we hope our technology enables you to do exactly this. I am not asking you to take my word for it. In fact, you shouldn’t. You should look at our history, look at our dedication to global research, look at our customer stories, and look at our reviews and third-party tests. I am confident that if you are not already with us, you will join along with the over 110 million people across the globe who protect their systems and enterprises with ESET solutions.
