Kumar Sangakkara, one of the most influential cricketers of all time and former captain of the Sri Lankan National Team, was appointed as ESET Brand Ambassador in Sri Lanka.
Sangakkara’s designation comes at the right time for Sri Lanka, where , with rising interest on the importance of cyber security awareness in Sri Lanka.
“I’m very excited to be supporting ESET in Sri Lanka as their official Brand Ambassador. The business world is increasingly using Internet based resources and in keeping with global trends, Internet usage rate in Sri Lanka has increased considerably. There is also an increase in usage of hand held devices for surfing the web for work and for leisure. This means that the risk of cyber-threats looms large and it’s critical for all of us to know how to protect ourselves from online threats,” said Kumar Sangakkara.
According to Parvinder Walia, Sales and Marketing Director for Asia Pacific at ESET, the biggest challenge in cyber security is building awareness of the threats that exist online, educating consumers about online safety best practices, and reminding them to stay vigilant.
